Easy Ways to Mentor through BTM

We all lead very busy and active lives. Boys to Men has created a program which accommodates the busy schedules of men. Here are some ways we can help you be a champion to boys.

1) Give rides to events We have events every 2 weeks. Give rides to boys as often as you are able. This “car talk” time with a mature man may be the highlight of a boy’s week.

2) Be with the boys at group activities At every Boys to Men event (every two weeks) we do an activity, share food, and talk about real stuff. Show up as often as you can. If you have a skill that you are willing to share with the boys we can construct a weekend event to give you an opportunity to impart your skills and wisdom to the next generation.

3) Be a Staff Man on a Boys to Men Rites of Passage Adventure Weekend We have one of the only programs to offer a highly refined rites of passage experience for teenage boys age 13-17. The transformations possible for boys (and men) are amazing! Many boys come into a passage adventure emotionally shut down. We have simple processes that put them in touch with all of their feelings and emotions. You’ll never forget this powerful and healing event. And you’ll have some real fun!

4) Be a Level 1 Mentor Not all boys get mentors, and we provide different mentoring levels for boys depending upon their needs. A Level 1 mentor commits to seeing his boy once a week for 3 hours.

5) Be a Level 2 Mentor A Level 2 mentor commits to seeing his boy once every 2 weeks for 3 hours, plus phone calls for the in-between weeks.

6) Be a Level 3 Mentor A Level 3 three mentor commits to seeing his boy once a month for 3 hours, plus phone calls, and participates in the once-a-month Group Mentoring Activities (3 hours).

7) Be an advocate Some of our boys come from destitute situations and rely on social programs to meet their needs. We need men in our network to share their resources and help our young men. If you have the ability to provide tutoring, legal, or medical assistance then you could be an advocate.

8) Be a financial supporter We know our program works and with proper funding we can impact many lives, not just the boys, more over their families and the men that are up to the task of making a difference. Your financial contributions will allow us to improve and expand our program. Fund raising is also a needed service, create one or more fund raisers.

9) Be a Champion We need Champions to volunteer in other ways in our program. Champions model healthy masculine energy in service to the community. Champions work on behalf of our young men in ways that range from preparing food to serving on our board of directors. Champion the cause of boys by calling us today!
